Very good at all. Finally I was able to get something new and, incidentally, to try my new acquisition, the goal Canon 100mm 2.8 IS USM (stabilizer), which works great. Also, I finally managed a shot of ( ) side:

Not a day without her butterfly: Zerynthia (Zerynthia) rumina

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Today we have another beauty: the or Zerynthia (Zerynthia) rumina (Linnaeus, 1758):

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Insecta
Order: Lepidoptera
Family: Papilionidae
Genus: Zerynthia
Species: Zerynthia (Zerynthia) rumina

Its size is smaller than your premiums family, I. podalirius and P. machaon, although its color is as beautiful as them. It has a single flight period, from March to late May, can be found up to 2200m and prefers calcareous hillsides with low vegetation and abundant. Its larvae feed on a single plant genus, Aristolochia, in any of these species A. pallida, A. boetica, A. longa ssp. paucinervis, A. Fontanesi t A. rotunda, all contain toxic alkaloids. The caterpillar builds up in your body without toxic pistoloquia transform, which makes it equally toxic. This butterfly is not very common, with very isolated colonies of a few individuals, and separated from each other.
